You don't wanna get into benzodiazepines, man.... (Ambien is one). Not only are they EXTREMELY habit-forming, but they have -horrible- withdrawal symptoms, even after taking them for only "a little while". If you go to your doctor, make sure they don't prescribe you some kind of sedating antidepressant to help you sleep. That's what they try to do 99% of the time. Also, your dad may be prescribed that for something other than insomnia, like... Anxiety, for example.
^.......... Sorry- minor correction on my part! It's not a "benzodiazepine" per se, but it is very similar to one (similar drug category/but it's called a "nonbenzodiazepine hypnotic", lol!), and binds to the same receptors as benzos. I believe it has similar side effects, addiction/misuse potential and withdrawal symptoms upon stopping. So, what I said still stands - DON'T use it! :)
smoke some good indica weed an you'll be out like a light.
I don't know why people get concerned about addiction to something you NEED to be normal
I'm also a insomniac, and sometimes you just don't have the energy to do anything else. I feel for you!
And that's why we have FML
my mom got addiced for five ye ars, it turnes her into an idiot, **** ambien
just throwing this out there. i was addicted to ambien. for about a year. it escalated to where i was crushing up and snorting 10 plus pills a day every day. i would advise agaisnt it. try melatonin or herbal tea m8
Ambien doesn't help you sleep...it just makes it so that you don't remember you didn't sleep...

It does suck, but your dad is right. I'm an insomniac and my doctor prescribed me Lunesta... it's great... I can sleep and whatnot; however, if I don't take it, I CAN'T sleep. Sleeping pill dependance is a real problem. Try exercising to wear yourself our or some other non-sleeping pill options or talk to your doctor... not really a true FML but I know the feeling very well. :/
Ok, those things may help normal people with sleepless nights, but, as an insomniac, I can tell you that those things don't help. We have a real problem that can't simply be reversed by changing our nightly routine.
