try melatonin and bynidril, i have almost the exact same problem, can't sleep and my mom refuses to get me any sleeping medication. if you can get the 5 mg tablets apposed from the 3 mg. its a natural chemical, hell your body produces it. it helps with sleep. the two in combonation helps A LOT
Take Gravol!! It's the best, even no name versions. Parents can be turds like that. Night quill is wicked too, but you don't want to get ammuned to that which can happen. I used to take sleeping pills and they make you all weird in the morning anyways. At least gravol is out of the system when you need to wake up in morning.
your dad is an asshole
Weed is your med my friend :)
When I was a child my parents had me taken in for an intelligence test . I was in the 99.99th percentile in overall intelligence; this correlates to an IQ of over 150. Now, my IQ is about 140, due to sleep deprivation that inhibited proper brain development. Trust me, you need to take sleep medication if you have insomnia. Do not take Ambien as that is not really meant for teenagers, and it is addictive. Try melatonin tablets; you cannot get addicted to them because melatonin is a naturally occurring chemical in your brain that is supposed to make you sleepy. If you don't have enough of it, you develop insomnia. I'm sure that if you found out that your body was not producing enough testosterone, you would take supplemental testosterone shots and that your father would have no problem with it. This is the same concept.
Try Melatonin tablets or you can get certain teas with it in. Its all natural but it should help. I have insomnia as well and it usually helps me though I do have to take a stronger dose (two tablets instead of one) unlike my non-insomniac fiance. During the 20min it takes a pill to kick in, stay in a dark room and do something relaxing and keep schedule of things before you go to bed in the same order, it will help you fall asleep because it will trigger your body that it's time for bed. You can also take one tablet and use the tea safely, since its just triggering your body to create more melatonin.
1. Try benedryl 2. Try melatonin can't get addicted to either of those.

It does suck, but your dad is right. I'm an insomniac and my doctor prescribed me Lunesta... it's great... I can sleep and whatnot; however, if I don't take it, I CAN'T sleep. Sleeping pill dependance is a real problem. Try exercising to wear yourself our or some other non-sleeping pill options or talk to your doctor... not really a true FML but I know the feeling very well. :/
Ok, those things may help normal people with sleepless nights, but, as an insomniac, I can tell you that those things don't help. We have a real problem that can't simply be reversed by changing our nightly routine.
