Today, the girl I'm in love with invited me to stay with her in Europe for 2 weeks, she's even paying for the flights and accommodation. It's because I'm such a special friend to her, and she wants me to come up to meet her fiancé before she gets married. FML

Today, I flew to Germany to meet up with a girl that I met in America 5 months ago and fell in love with. We've been talking every day for 5 months straight. I get here just for her to tell me that she likes me "like a brother". FML

Today, my long distance friend-with-benefits informed me she's now in a relationship with an amazing guy. I should be happier for her, as even I admit he is perfect for her. Too bad I just spent over a thousand dollars on plane tickets to visit her. The tickets are completely nonrefundable. FML

Today, I spent hundreds of pounds buying my best friend concert tickets to see our favourite band, complete with a meet and greet. I drove over very excited to pick her up to take her. She had already left. With her boyfriend. FML

@136: If she's the girl you love, you could learn a lesson from this story and, I dunno, tell her before it's too late? Otherwise she might just find some "British prick and **** them". The only way out of the friend zone, (besides some horrific experience happening on her end and thus making her vulnerable) is by distancing yourself from her for an extended amount of time. The closer you two are as friends, the longer you must be separated from her. If you are best buddies, it could take a year or two of NO CONTACT. Then, and only then, if she finds you attractive (physically and mentally) you have a shot. By attractive, I mean in a more-than-friends attractiveness. I was good friends with a girl and we found each other physically attractive, but we were individually too prideful to ever be in a relationship with each other, so we pretty much decided we should never date. Would I have banged her if I had the chance though? Of course ;-) but that's a moot point. She has a fiance. Find someone new; don't be that guy.
