Today, I moved into a new house. The landlord insists it's OK for her to come up whenever she wants because she owns the house. We aren't allowed to lock the doors and she has two 8-year-olds. They come into the bathroom every time they hear the shower running. We have a clear shower curtain. FML

No. No it's not okay. If I'm not mistaken that's illegal for her to do.

Put a chair in front of the door. That will keep them out. It's not a lock...

It's illegal- unless the "house" is actually one of the couples parents and the "kids" are brothers. Which it sounds like.

I'm usually pretty sympathetic, but you deserve this one. A clear shower curtain defeats the whole purpose. Get a new one.

The purpose of a shower curtain is to stop water going all over the bathroom, duh. OP hardly deserved to have two kids and their landlady coming into their house at all hours because they have a clear shower curtain...

Buy a 12 gauge, that will end ur landlords visits

Put a dummy in the shower and wait for them in a different room. Then when they burst in the bathroom, shut the door and lock them in. ?

Two words. RENTERS RIGHTS! Look them up and make sure you look over your lease.

What is she going to do kick you out for not locking the door?

That's illegal without at least 24 hours notice

Anyone ever judge the usefulness of a clear shower curtain?

Keeping the water from getting all over the floor and outside your shower, just like any other shower curtain.

Yes but does it have to be CLEAR?

What people seem to be missing, is that the OP might not be renting the entire house. It sounds like she is just renting a room in the landlord's house, which makes it perfectly legal for the landlord to come into her living space at anytime, without notice. But if the landlord won't do anything about the little brat kids, move out OP! This will only be the start of your problems.

Actually, you would be wrong. If you pay money for a space to live, ANY space to live, you have a right to privacy.

if this was google id vote best answer..exactly what i thought..she has a certain right to privacy but the law is very different when the landloard lives in the home the tenant is renting versus an apartment a tenant renting

You need to put your foot down she does NOT have a right to come in when she wants and niether do her children . Nor can she tell you you cant lock the door .
