By HELP - This FML is from back in 2012 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, I moved into a new house. The landlord insists it's OK for her to come up whenever she wants because she owns the house. We aren't allowed to lock the doors and she has two 8-year-olds. They come into the bathroom every time they hear the shower running. We have a clear shower curtain. FML

Put a chair in front of the door. That will keep them out. It's not a lock...

Lol she. Has the right to come in whenever she wants thats priceless !!!! get camera footage of her doing this repeatedly then sue here for countless charges .. This will most likely get some rent money back .

Landlords do have the right to enter, but with reason. Also the LANDLORD is legal to enter not her children, and not in the bathroom during a shower. File for sexual assault and harassment. And get a new apartment.

I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice. First, I'm pretty sure that a dwelling unit with no lock on the door violates building codes in most U.S. jurisdictions. Second, the landlord/tenant code in most states spells out the conditions under which the landlord can enter the unit. Laws vary, but typically, if it's not an emergency, entering the unit requires some kind of notice to the tenant (24 or 48 hours is common) and it has to be done "at reasonable hours" (i.e. they can't do it at 3:00am). More generally, as someone who rents an apartment, you're entitled to what's known as "the right of quiet enjoyment" to the rented premises, which means the right to be let alone and not be disturbed unnecessarily. If all else fails, have your attorney explain all of this to her.

This is illegal! when an owner rents the home they forfeit their rights to the renter. they must give 24 hours (or reasonable notice if renter cannot be reached) to a renter before entering the home. Call the cops show them your lease and say she is trespassing.

Yup that's illegal. She rents it out therefore forfeiting any right to enter the premises unless emergency urges otherwise. Sue her for a shit ton of money, emotional distress for her dousche bad kids creeping on your shower time, and buy yourself a house.

So get a lawyer? It doesn't matter if she owns the place, you signed a rental agreement, she can't legally do that.

That's actually illegal if you live in the state of California. I would check your landlord, tenant laws.
