Today, I moved into a new house. The landlord insists it's OK for her to come up whenever she wants because she owns the house. We aren't allowed to lock the doors and she has two 8-year-olds. They come into the bathroom every time they hear the shower running. We have a clear shower curtain. FML

No. No it's not okay. If I'm not mistaken that's illegal for her to do.

Put a chair in front of the door. That will keep them out. It's not a lock...

If she's your landlord, I presume you're paying rent, so therefore, technically, it's your room, since you're paying for it. Tell her that her kids are trespassing. Either that, or move the **** outta there to get away from those brats!

All I am going to say is "landlord tenant act". Read it!

Wtf! She cant do that! There are laws against dhit like that!

Her behavior is illegal. She has no right to enter the premises unless it's an emergency or you authorize it. What does your lease say? Report her to the local housing agency then move. Hope you didn't give this nut job a security deposit cuz you might not get it back.

I agree with everyone else, read the lease and report her. Even if she could enter that doesn't extend to her kids who by this posting seem to be peeping toms.

The contract may say the landlord has a right to enter the property but this usually means by unlocking the doors with their set of keys, not for OP to leave everything unlocked. So it does not matter if there is a clause in the contract.

Get a new shower curtain and lock the door Hmmm that's a novel idea

That's bullshit. Lock the damn doors.
