Been there. First my dad complained about having to pick me up from school and then my doctor swore I didn't have appendicitis. My ruptured appendix begged to differ :) on the bright side you can only get it once! Get well soon, OP!
Hope everything goes good! :)
The first clue that it's not "the flu": vomitting and abdominal pain. Influenza aka "the flu" is a respiratory illness. Tell your half-retarded mom to read a book.
Actually, you can get a stomach flu, it involves lots vomiting and often diarrhea, it usually last about 24 hours or so. I've had it a couple times, it's not fun. :/ It's also a great way to get dehydrated if you're not careful.
I had to be rushed to the hospital, my older brother thought I was faking so I wouldn't have to go to school. I couldn't walk right because of the excruciating pain, he even threw a shoe at me and told me to stop pretending.
It's important to know which side and which part of the stomach is hurting. So look up symptoms on Internet to guide you to different cases but I'm glad you got to the emergency room in time. Especially since its deadly..

The same thing happened to me about 5 years ago! Our luck. . .

Be lucky you're not telling us this beyond the grave with and epitaph reading: "I told you it wasn't the flu!" on your tombstone.
Praying for you, OP. hope a speedy recovery is in your future!
