Man up

By Anonymous - This FML is from back in 2013 but it's good stuff - United States - Santa Barbara

Today, I woke up with horrible pain in my gut. It got worse and worse, and I started vomiting from the pain. My mom said it was the flu and that I needed to "man up." It turned out to be appendicitis, and I'm now typing this from my hospital bed. FML

Be lucky you're not telling us this beyond the grave with and epitaph reading: "I told you it wasn't the flu!" on your tombstone.

Praying for you, OP. hope a speedy recovery is in your future!

Hope the keyhole surgery went well O.P. Your mum should take you more seriously from now on.

Oh gender roles and expectations. What a great way to live in this modern world.

Above comment (in my head) translates to; Your pain brings me great pleasure. Don't die, I wish to hear of your later suffering.

Right when I saw you said my side hurt and you vomited I knew exactly what you had! I feel ya man/girl! It is hell going through that!

Tell your mom to 'man up' because that is serious.

The same thing happened to one of my mother's exes. He was doubled over in pain for hours before his father sent him to the hospital on public transit, alone, and with the words, "And there BETTER be something wrong with you." He had appendicitis too. Some parents can be absolutely ridiculous. I hope your mother felt like an asshole once she found out what it really was. Get better, OP.

Wow. That's why health problems should always be taken seriously and never made out to be less than how you feel. The smallest discomfort could be symptom of something so severe. Anyway, I'm glad you caught it in time and I hope you make a speedy recovery.

Good luck. At least the scar aint like they use to be. Its very small and could heal up un noticable with the right care.
