Today, I decided I would try this feature on my banking app which lets me deposit checks by sending a picture of it. The instructions say to rip the check after depositing. The deposit didn't work and now I've got a ripped up paycheck. FML

So we all know to rip the check after CONFIRMING the deposit was made. Thanks, FML.

Some banks actually tell you to destroy the check right after. I bank with USAA and the instructions say to destroy the check or write void on the front after the deposit. However, I always wait until I get a confirmation and a few days before I void it.

You're supposed to make sure it works first

Actually, the apps say keep your check until the deposit is approved, then destroy the checks. That still sucks though!!

And that's why you should maybe wait until you see the money deposited into the bank account.

My bank had this up, too. It specifically states that you should keep your check in a secure location until you have confirmation that it went through, which could take up to 48 hours. So ydi.

Gosh, what will you do? It's not like your place of employment will ever reissue you a check or anything. I guess you just lost all your money. -____-

YDI for not waiting until it clears.

Tell your employer you lost the check and they will more than likely give you another one, no questions asked.
