The exact same thing happened to me when I was like 9! It was my dad and his girlfriend having sex in the bed next to me!

My parents do that every time we're in a hotel. They get mad because either I or my brother disturbs them accidentally. They claim its discreet and that we shouldn't be disturbing them but I'm not sure how it is when there's either no door or just a paper thin wall separating us from them and we have to tell or ask them something. They don't particularly wait until a late hour, either.
