Poor little guy

Today, my boyfriend and I tried to give his cat medicine. Unfortunately, it reacted in a way it never had before: clawed his arms to bits, bit him so hard a tooth fell out, peed everywhere, including on me, and pooped on the carpet. FML

You should have gotten those pill sleeves from the vet. They can get pricey but they are totally worth it. The cat eats them like it's nothing. and it's much less stressful on you and the cat.

Agreed! Its the only way my cat will take medicine, she gets mad like OP's boyfriend's cat otherwise, though not nearly as extreme!

get your guy to a doctor. almost all cat bites end in severe infection. i had one. If not treated quick it can cause permanent damage.

What're you talking about? My cats bite me all the time when I give them medicine (or I had one nasty cat that would bite my ankles because I was simply existing) and never once in over 20 years have I gotten an infection from it.

47 is correct. Cats have a ton of bacteria in their mouths and when they puncture your skin, they're leaving some under there, which can cause an abscess or worse. You're lucky if you've never had an infection from it. More likely, this cat that bites you all the time is not breaking the skin.

next time, try wrapping the cat up in a towel or blanket like a burrito, then you can pry his mouth open and shove medicine in. close his mouth and blow gently in kitty's face, that forces him to swallow the medicine. our cat get really bad eye infections before he died, so we had to give him meds a lot. good luck, hope kitty gets better soon. and hope ya'll recover quickly. lol
