Today, I sliced my finger open because my roommate's girlfriend put a broken ceramic plate in the recycling. I was putting some paper in the bin and all of a sudden, an inch and a half of my flesh is naked to the world. I don't have medical insurance, so I fixed it with Superglue. FML

so suddenly everyone hates socialism? wtf...bet they don't understand the difference between socialism and communism just like intelligent people can't see the difference between the end results of democracy and dictatorship.

I do a lot of hiking/backpacking and shit. Plus I just REALLY hate hospitals. Lol. And I'm very good at getting myself injured.

It hurts. Maybe get a friend to help you tie the knots. They're hard to do if you're stitching one hand with the other.

lol the doctor might superglue it shut any damn way, depending on where it is. I had to glue mine shut just a few hours ago. Sliced it open on a hose clamp. Had to play Starcraft left-handed so I wouldn't get glue on my mouse.

that's why I love Canada. go health care!

Regarding Socialism/Capitalism: Capitalism has its limits. What makes us wealthier is not higher pay, but better technology. Look at computers or ipods for example: how much does an ipod cost today? How much would it had cost 20 years ago? As we acquire better technology, we can built better stuff at lower costs. 20 years ago, the smallest portable music players were huge compared to ipods. The bottom line is, we benefit from each other. If an educated and intelligent guy goes through a series of tough events and hits rock bottom, then we would benefit by giving him money to help him get back on his feet because once his problems are solved he might contribute to the improvement of our technology. Also, it costs a lot to society to raise people. Taxes pay for our education when we are children. We also pollute and consume resources through our lives (e.g. taking the car to school, showering every day, all the food we eat...). So it's better to help people who are in trouble, that way they can be useful to the rest of society by doing the jobs we trained them to do since their childhood. If we let them die, all the resources invested in them is a waste. That's why health care is necessary. It may look like giving away money you've earned, but in the long run it's a good investment for yourself. Those people your money helps, some of them will do something that will be useful to you. But individuals can't see those benefits. You need to look at the bigger picture, and unfortunately the picture is so big our own eyes are not enough. That's why I say capitalism has limits ; we do not notice that the money we give to help someone is an investment in the invention of cheap car gas/greener energy/flying cars/cheaper products of all kinds... The government must step in and take the lead.

Um, I don't know about you, but when I put things in a recycling bin, I don't stick my hand INTO the bin. I can't imagine how you managed to slice your hand open... If the ceramic were sticking out, you would see it. If not, why would you shove your hand in far enough to get cut on something you didn't even see? Just sounds dumb to me - dumb possibly spelled F-A-K-E.
