By mr_loveless - This FML is from back in 2013 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, I got married on Skyrim. To an elf. While in real life, my love life is floundering like a half-dead carp in the surf on a hot day. So much so in fact that I actually draw a measure of comfort from being married to an elf. FML

Try picturing the carp as half-alive. Maybe it'll help turn things around

It's okay, OP, I've been married 15 times on the Sims.

Only 15? Did you just start playing last night?

The only date I've ever had was in a video game. I feel you, my friend.

Take comfort in the fact that that was a beautiful simile.

Turn off the PC. Get a job. Move out of your mom's basement. Pay a pro for a makeover. Find a large church with a "Singles" program and make sure the ratio m/f is good and all the right age group.... Fine your mate.....

He may have a job and living alone. We did not really get any info about that, so none of us can judge the situation, in worst case, he may not be able to get out

If he's not a religious person, the whole 'church with a singles program' could be disastrous.

Unless you want to be perceived as an arrogant judgemental asshole, you should stop thinking in stereotypes. Churches won't work for agnostics, atheists and non-christians. If the dude is single, it doesn't mean he's unemployed, ugly and live in basement. He might live in his own apartment, have a job and be decent looking, but has a bad luck with women or had some other problem that prevented him from finding the partner. This happens a lot to large number of people. You can be one of them too.

I was with you on that, but you lost me at church.

Y1. He could be playing on xbox 360 2. Just because he plays video games does not mean he has no life, lives in his mom's basement, and has no job. 3. Please don't address OPs appearance when you rather don't even have any picture at all... 4. Your 'sign up with a church to pick up chicks' idea is flawed for many reasons that have already been stated. 5. I'm sure it's just a mistake, but I FIND my self in need of correcting your last sentence. 6. You are judgmental, stereotypical, and deserve more thumbs down.

May be if you stop giving video games less time and your wife more time, then things will seem to work out. Get out of virtual world.

Stop giving less time = give more or equal time? I think your words are a little jumbled up my friend. Also I don't believe OP has a real wife to "stop giving""more time" to.

Going by the FML, I'm sure his wife is getting a lot of attention.

Take this from a former sims addict. Put all your virtual stuff in storage, change your password to a complex code that you have to painstakingly type in- which will make you think twice about getting back in. Improve your real life OP! :)

That's what I did with my password to get onto my internet. "Should I go play some cod?" [please enter password] "nah, maybe ill do laundry."

My situation is exactly the same op, I know your pain.

I gave that elf Breezehome, elves love Breezehome.

At least you got married! Lydia doesn't even follow me half the time, the disobedient bitch!

Oh my God, Lydia pisses me off more than anything.

Lydia died on the first quest I took her on. Stupid bitch. The dark brotherhood initiates are the way to go. They almost never die, and a new one spawns if you do manage to kill one.

Hey show some appreciation for Lydia! After all, she is sworn to carry your burdens.
