Today, I received a $250 ticket when I parked my car, that has the disabled placard, in a handicapped spot at a Wal-Mart. The officer said she watched me get out of the car and walk to store without appearing to be disabled. I'm 59 years old, have a steel rod in my spine and a prosthetic hip. FML

Today, I received a $105 parking ticket for being in a handicapped space. The lines were covered by snow, and the sign was on the building twenty feet away. FML

Today, after parking in the handicapped spot of a lot with my placard, an older couple with their 7-year-old grandchild came up and yelled at me for being a lying asshole and taking the parking spot. When I showed them my prosthetic leg, the kid started crying and guess who got yelled at again. FML

Today, I was so happy to finally get my disabled parking badge but I was not prepared for the abuse from members of the public because I don’t "look disabled." Just this morning a woman refused to believe I have a prosthetic foot, and tried to make me pull up my pant leg to show her. FML

Today, as I was getting out of my car, an old and obese lady walked up to me and called me an "inconsiderate heartless bitch" for using the last handicap parking spot. I guess she didn't see my wheelchair. FML

Today, I parked in a "Disabled" space. A woman and her kids comes yelling at me about how I don't look disabled and I was just being selfish. I roll my pants up to reveal two prosthetic legs. She then yells at me that I should have warned her before showing my legs since it could scare her kids. FML

Today, I got a ticket for parking "illegally." I was waiting for my handicapped dad at the airport and had all the required documents to park as I did while waiting for him. The cop didn't care, and now I have to go through bureaucracy hell to get it cancelled. FML

Today, a co-worker and I walked out of our office at the same time. He got in his car, which was parked right out front. I asked him what I had to do to get a sweet parking spot like that. He rolled up his pant leg and show me his prosthesis. He was in the handicapped spot. FML

Today, at the DMV, I was told I had to prove, with a doctor's note, that I was an amputee and that my disability was permanent to get my placard. Apparently, placing my prosthetic leg on the counter wasn't proof enough, and is considered "threatening". The police were called. FML

Today, I was looking for a parking spot and finally found one. Trying to figure out if the spot was legal, I asked a cop that had pulled up. He said it was fine. I came back 3 hours later to a parking ticket. FML

Who is it for her to decide if you're disabled or not? Wow. I hate people like that. Of course not all handicaps are always going to be noticeable.

I'm pretty sure you can definately appeal against that. People with mental disabilities can get the cards and you cannot physically look at them to see if they're disabled.

Contest it!! Give a human a minute amount of power and they abuse it, what's new. You have a disabled permit, you are entitled to utilise disabled bays and should even complain for the trouble this idiot caused you. Good Luck :)

I moderated this :) they have no right to just assume but you should be able to get rid of the ticket once you show they proof that you are handicapped because you should carry it in your car like in the glove or something here's something you can do if other people sweat you if they think your not handicapped like old people, parking attendants, etc. its what my mom does especially when they piss her off bad say you don't know what my handicap is, it could be beating the shit out of people like you determined to get people to back the **** up! seriously my mom is handicapped and she is just going on 49 but everybody thinks she's at least 10 years younger hell sometimes people even think we're sisters

Po;ice DO patrol WM parking lots looking for those who don't have the right to have one. Your Story OTOH, It's Bullshit. ALL Handicap Placards have a serial number. The police call in the number and get the ID of the person the Placard is issued to. The officer then would ask for your ID, proving that you are the legal bearer of the placard. You are a Liar.

It doesn't matter. You had a legitimate handicapped placard. fight the ticket and it will be dismissed. Just prove the placard is yours and it's all right. Plus this D-bag will look like an incompetent buffoon in front of the judge for added justice. Then you can suggest that this may be the wrong career path for him if he spends his time hunting down handicapped people.
