You probably need to change the litter and wash the litter box. You don't like using a nasty smelly bathroom, and neither does your cat. Your cat's sense of smell is 14 times stronger than yours. If you can smell her litter box, just imagine how overwhelmingly rank it is to her!
Or it just doesn't want to pee in a filthy litter box? I hope you never have pets.
Time to get a dog!
If it's not your backpack what's the problem?
(Smart Cat pun) Oh wait Cat puns aren't smart they're cheesy!
No... Mouse puns are cheesy. (Yeah, I know...)
YDI for having a cat.
I had a cat like that. Now he lives outside.
... you know, cats will choose to relieve themselves elsewhere than the litter box if it's too dirty. I've had several cats in my lifetime, one of which was even feral as a kitten (we had to set out a live trap baited with salmon to catch her), and I've never had a single occasion where they relieved themselves in the house anywhere besides the litter box. I rarely say YDI, but maybe if you cleaned out the litter box more often the cat wouldn't be so aloof to the thought of setting foot inside it.

That stinks. It's quite a cat-astrophe indeed.
