Today, a homeless guy asked me for a cigarette. Knowing that I only had a couple left in my pack, I gave it to him. He opened it, took one out and thanked me profusely. A bit surprised, I went on my way. Oh yes, that's right, the pack contained the money I'd withdrawn from an ATM. FML

Thank you too. He probably never thought that smoking would help him out so much.

Maybe that's incentive to give up smoking for you if it means you're giving money away.

What a pillock puts money into a pack of smokes? Well deserved, OP

If you hadn't handed the money to the homeless man, chances are you would have tossed it into the garbage when you finished the pack. Who puts money in a cigarette pack? YDI!

Why not put the money in your wallet or a pocket

Ydi for keeping your money in something that gets thrown away.

Hopefully he doesn't use the money to buy alcohol or more cigarettes like the stereotype says..how much money was in there anyways

I voted YDI on this one op. How stupid can you be to put money into a cigarette pack? Chances are that even had you not forgotten it was there at the time the man asked for a cig, you would have forgotten by the time you would have been out, ergo tossing out the pack. It's never smart to keep money in something as disposable as that. Invest in a wallet or something like it.

And that's why you put it in a wallet, you dumbass.

Just think of what that little bit of kindness (accidental though it may be) means to that man. He may be able to eat tonight because of you.
