Today, a very good friend of mine said he had a question to ask me. Jokingly, I threw my arms around his neck and said, "Oh yes, yes, a thousand times yes!" When I sat back down, I saw tears in his eyes, and he said, "You've made me the happiest man alive" as he pulled a small box out of his coat. FML

Today, my boyfriend got on one knee and started talking about how we met. Knowing what was coming, I started tearing up, absolutely sure he was going to propose. Just as I was about to say yes, he quickly stood up and yelled "HAH, JUST KIDDING". FML

To be fair, it's not really her fault. It may not have been the smartest way to react, but she couldn't have known that a platonic friend was going to ask her a question like that. Though it's more of a FHL than yours, OP. Poor guy.

Actually I'd say it is a YDI to that guy - He shouldn't have gotten so excited about her answer when she didn't even know what the question was - and especially when her answer was done jokingly.

That kind of sucks, and looking back it probably wasnt the smartes to give an answer before hearing the question but I can see how at the time you wouldnt have seen it coming.
