aatomkins tells us more.
This isn't your average chore, I do those for free. No allowance, just a hourly rate for the hardcore jobs.

pff! I didn't even know girls could open a door to get out of the house. that's why we have to open the door and hold it for them!
your dads a douche. FYL
Your dad is quite the sexist piece of shit.
Anyone else sick of idiots expecting to be paid by their parents for whatever they do in their parent's house while living on their parent's money?
sometimes men are frigging losers, even dads...
I can't believe kids get paid to mow their own lawns now-a-days. I'm only 28, but BACK WHEN I WAS A BOY, I mowed lawns, cleared fields, built fences, laid driveways, did dishes, etc, and I didn't get paid shit. As I shouldn't have been. Oh, and let me add a note to all you feminist idiots. Men and women are designed differently. Women were created BY GOD to do less physical tasks, that's why they're smaller and, usually, weaker physically. They also tend to be more nurturing and emotional, which is why women make great mothers and men make great farmers. Doesn't mean a man can't change a diaper (I've changed hundreds) and a woman can't move furniture (my wife does frequently), but we're designed differently, in order to do certain things better, and feminists are stupid for denying obvious, evident truths.
Okay, so there are feminist extremes. Even feminist idiots, some of which have shown up here. And actually, if you want to go back to hunter-gatherer societies, women were every bit as aggressive and capable as men in order to deal with the lifestyle. But modern civilization has put women on a confiding pedestal. True, women are (ON AVERAGE) smaller and weaker. We are more nurturing and emotional. But that doesn't mean women can't be great farmers, it simply means that ALL women probably don't WANT be great farmers. Like all men probably don't want to be great mothers. This girls dad made a general, hurtful assumption. Feminists HATE that kind of assumption, and get all ruffled up about it. So some overreact. I think the root cause of this, and so many other problems, are generalized assumptions about a very diverse group of people. *cough* stereotypes
wow, you're a greedy little bitch. Mowing the lawn is a normal chore...why would you expect to get paid for it? Do you get paid for cleaning, washing dishes, repairing the sink? No, grow up and realize that these things just need to be done and getting paid to do them isn't an option
Obviously it wasn't a normal chore. And the dad told her he would. That's the messed up part. Not that she isn't getting paid, but the fact that she was told she would get paid, then wasn't because he didn't think she was physically capable of doing.
you must have a pretty ******* huge yard if it takes 3 hours, mine's pretty big and it only takes me like 20 minutes
She mentioned somewhere that the mower overheated twice. OP: Your dad is an asshole. Not much else to contribute. =/
and it's 3 acres....
Wow, you really like pointing out that it was three acres... Once again, it was also a ride-on lawnmower, so, sitting on your ass for three hours doesn't seem like such a big deal to me.
