Do these two things: 1)Get a restraining order against both of them. 2)Give your mom the number of the local police station in case she or that ex needs to "give it another try".

That's not her decision. Change it again and don't give in when she asks for it(might want to tell your friends not to give it to her either)and get a restraining order on the ex.

That makes no sense. Obviously you would want to give your mother your number. I would want my mom to have my number in case of an emergency. Or just because. OP didn't had no idea this would be the outcome.

Seriously? Short of having a mom with a history of alcohol or drug abuse or an abusive history, I can't see why OP wouldn't trust her mother, especially if she told her mom why she changed her number. I assume that until now, OP had no reason not to trust her.

Even if OP's mother was the most awful, drug addicted woman on the planet, it's still possible that she loves her mother dearly and wants to talk to her. You can't chose your family.

Why does'nt your mom understand that HE WAS ABUSIVE TO YOU. Mothers should take their child's side instead of the other side. I just smh at some parents
