Today, after recovering from pneumonia and a severe asthma attack caused by my dad's fiancée's cat, he chose to keep the cat. I can't go to his house without having to go to the hospital later. FML

Hes an asshole. Sorry Op. You deserve someone better

No he's not. I can't see why OP's dad should make his fiancée permanently get rid of her cat when OP can just take anti-allergy medication before he goes to their house (yes, it really works, and it's cheap). Even if OP lives there, all he has to do is take some Benadryl every day, that's what cat-owners that are allergic to cats do.

Tough choice: Woman who is giving him hot sex vs. child from the marriage that failed in bitter divorce? Meet your dad at your place or somewhere in public. Was that so hard?

Woah, now, who said anything about bitter divorce? For all we know, he could've been the one who wanted the divorce.

I said so. This is FML, which limits the stories to 300 characters, so all of the details cannot be revealed. Therefore, it's up to crafty commenters to make them up.

Still, I think that's a bit far of a stretch, as it completely changes the situation. But you have been voted up and me down, so I will accept that you are right.

...Then don't go to his house. SURELY there are other ways to be in your dad's company other than forcing someone to give up their pet for a person who isn't even a resident. Take allergy pills. Meet in restaurants. Invite him to your place. There are a lot of other solutions.

YDI for expecting someone to get rid of THEIR pet when you don't live with them. Not your house, not your call. That's ridiculous. Also, allergies don't cause pneumonia- that's bacteria. The pneumonia could have made the asthma attack worse (obviously 2 respiratory problems is worse than 1), but that's all. If you have a problem, you can choose not to go over there or you can take a Benadryl before you visit. You have no business even suggesting such an extreme accommodation.

From my viewpoint: you do not live at your dad's house. You can't demand him get rid of the cat. His fiance loves the cat and 9 times out of 10 had a person gave his significant other the ultimatum to get rid of a beloved pet, they will kick the bf/gf out and keep their pet. It would be a different situation, if you lived in the same house. Honestly, if I was getting married and my fiance's son who does not live with us demand I get rid of my two dogs because he is allergic, I would flat out refuse. My house, my dogs, and the son is a visitor. And getting rid of dogs would almost guarantee a death sentence to them.

Your father failed to be a good father. He doesn't even deserve to be known as a father! -.- Cats are seriously taking over this world..

op doesnt live with them and can meet them anywhere. he can also take allergy meds. if he is that bad that cat hair could kill him he should have an epi pen which he wont because he is exagerating. this is an fml writeen by a jealous kid who doesnt want a stepmom

guess he doesn't want to see you then. ...

Turn off the cataract, like there's about to be a cataclysm. You make it sound all category when all you need to do is buy a catacomb or drink some catatonic.

What the **** is that supposed to be?

Selfish! You are completely ignorant aren't you? OP doesn't live the so why should they get rid of the cat just so OP can visit every once in a while. The whole asthma thing sucks for OP I agree, but OP has no right to choose what happens to the cat since OP no longer lives there.

Thats why I recomend sheeps as pet for everyone. =)

sheep has no plural. come on you should know that about your own species :) i do like the word sheeps tho :)
