hmm maybe just maybe he's giving you clear indication that youre not wanted and that he prefers the cat's company over yours.
Or maybe he doesn't want to force the women he's marrying to get rid of her beloved pet. I agree it suck for OP but I wouldn't want to give up my cat either.
It's clear who your father prefers to have around... Don't feel bad... At least you tried, and can point this out someday when he accuses you of not visiting...
So have him come to your house.
Your dad's fiancée better have a pawsible excuse for keeping that cat and putting you at risk.
Maybe because 1 she loves her pet and 2 OP doesn't live with her father. So stop trying to make it look like the father or his soon to be wife are terrible people.
It was a pun
I know. I just don't care for puns.
Cat dander allergy doesn't cause pneumonia. And I don't think I would make the decision to get rid of a pet I have had for some time because someone who doesn't live with me is allergic. Have them over to your place. Life goes on.
No OP is saying she got pneumonia first then after the had an allergic reaction to the cat.
I thought they meant that they had the asthma attack from the cat on top of pneumonia. Who needs reading comprehension anyways.
I would've kept the cat too. Sorry but they do have medications you can take if you are allergic to animals. Carry an epi. And have the family get togethers at your house or in a public place.
It's called allergy medicine bro. Plus the fiancé had the cat before you. She shouldn't have to get rid of it just because you're a puss.
Assumedly, OP is already taking medicine to control her/his asthma, and it would be unfair for him/her to be expected to take heavier dosages or stronger meds just to be around the dad's fiancée's cat. Besides, asthma meds are freaking expensive. That said, I hope OP and the dad can come to some sort of arrangement so that the fiancée can keep the pet without any hard feelings.
Well it'a kinda tricky to expect him to get rid of his pet. Pets are for life, not to be disposed of when inconvenient. He can always visit you and your fiancée at your place.
You misread. The cat belongs to the fiancee who is marrying OP's dad. Though I agree with you.
Not your house. I would keep the cat. There are plenty of other places that you can go to see your family - they are only being dicks if they always have large family gatherings at the place with the cat, so excluding you. I don't think you can expect them to get rid of a pet (and anyone who owns pets knows how extreme it is to lose them) just so that you can pop in every now and then.
Hope is soon to be wife will understand...fur ball shouldn't be over you...

Hes an asshole. Sorry Op. You deserve someone better
No he's not. I can't see why OP's dad should make his fiancée permanently get rid of her cat when OP can just take anti-allergy medication before he goes to their house (yes, it really works, and it's cheap). Even if OP lives there, all he has to do is take some Benadryl every day, that's what cat-owners that are allergic to cats do.
