Today, at my retail job, a woman came to my till with her purchases. After I scanned all her items, she handed me two small bags. One was filled with nickels and dimes. The other was filled with cents. Her total was $28.53. The coins amounted to $22.30. FML

Those types of people are a dime a dozen. Why wouldn't she bring enough money to a store? That doesn't make much cents.

Wow. Every retail job I've ever had had a policy stating if someone were to pay with only coins, they had to be rolled. It gave people the opportunity to short the store a few pennies, but that was on the management.

It cracked me up that OP said "one bag was filled with dimes and nickels, the other was filled with cents" rather than just saying pennies. I don't know why, but it just made me laugh.

Ugh! I used to hate when people would do that. Hopefully, she payed the difference in cash and did not make you count it again, "to be sure you did not count it wrong."

Phew, good thing you are not a Brit, so she could not short change your penny!

Sorry, ignorant american here, explain please, im curious

Brits have half pennies, so for them there is an EVEN smaller denomination to annoy their clerks with.

She's gonna go outside for a couple of hours, pick up some coins, and then she will pay the rest of what she owes. Cool your jets OP.

FYL for having to count the coins and for them coming short of the total, hope she was able to pay the rest and you did not have a queue of angry customers.

you should have given her your two cents.

You CAN refuse unrolled coins if it amounted to that much, you know...

Not if your boss tells you have to take it. I -wish- that was some standard practice.
