"Good, see you there bitch." End of situation.
Are you sure it wasn't a GameFly commercial that you weren't told about?
Welcome to customer service... So obviously she was right
i've had a woman say that to me before. i think she was asking for a free upgrade to her meal or something and when i said we couldn't do that she looked all smug and said' haven't you heard the phrase the customer is always right?' i responded with 'yes, but in this case you aren't'. what's even better is she asked for the manager wanting to complain and he backed me up. priceless
This is why I'm glad I work in the Equitation world; customers who get smart for no reason get tossed out of the barn, and good luck finding another trainer near by who will put up with your shit. And God help you if my trainer finds out a client treats a stablehand like that. How about people just not be shit heads? Let's give that one a try!
No this definitely has no grounds in court... This was like a daily occurrence when I used to manage in pet retail. Customers threaten "court" all of the time. I had people try and return used dog beds and carriers after they took them on vacation, some with no tags or receipt, then bitch me out and call me every name in the book because I wouldn't refund them. Luckily I worked for a franchise and the company owners stood behind us on issues like this. Another manager at a different store was heavily pregnant and a customer was ranting at her over not being allowed to use an expired coupon and eventually called her a fat c*nt. She called him an asshole and told him to leave. He called our boss that owned the entire company and said "she called me an asshole!" Having already heard from our manager, he calmly asked the guy "well, are you an asshole?". The guy promptly hung up. The customer is not always right! I wish more companies had backbones and stood behind their employees. I promptly quit when we got bought out by corporate.
I definitely know the feeling, since I've worked Customer Service before. I'm sure, like I did, you have supervisors. When a situation like that arises, call one of them over. Supervisors and up get paid to handle customers like that (I know, I'm one of them know haha). Don't worry though. There are some customers who prefer making the associate look bad, instead of leaving quietly. She's all bark, no bite.
To be fair, racist people DO usually deny customers refunds. *sarcasm*

I hate customers like that. They think the louder they get the more likely it will go their way.
Customers who expect an exchange without a receipt are just idiotic. I see this situation on a regular basis where I work, where something will be half price one week and then the next week someone who "bought this stuff yesterday" come in looking for a full refund without a receipt to verify the dates
