How about you figure it out? Get a grip.
Ill figure it out for you. You need a new faucet (the part with the knobs) for your shower. That's what mixes the hot and cold together.
You could run a bath that was equal parts freezing and equal part blistering, assuming you have a bath tub :) good luck!
Call a freaking plumber while he is out, already, and just deal with paying someone professional to do their job instead of a worthless "thinks he knows it all" husband.
You could made it a hot bath then wait for it to cool down...

So what did you choose? I had to have a freezing cold shower in Canadian february and it was terrible but I can't imagine skin-blisteringly hot would be any better..
