Today, I asked my boss for a raise, explaining that another shop offered me a job at a higher rate, but I would stay if he would offer me the same. Instead, he fired me then called the other shop and said I was fired for failing a drug test. FML

WHOA!! What in the actual **** is wrong with your boss?! It's been a long time since my jaw has dropped at an FML!

Your boss is an asshole! There has to be someone you can contact because he is out of line.

Sue for slander! I'm not a "sue-happy" supporter, but it seems your professional reputation is at stake, and that's priceless.

Take your former employer to court and sue him for defamation of character and unfair dismissal. He won't be able to produce the failed drug test so it should be a pretty easy win. Of course I am commenting under the assumption that you didn't actually fail a drug test.

Oh, come on! You even offered to stay for crying out loud. Plus, it's not like you were actively seeking employment with this other place.

If that's true, get a lawyer. It's illegal for him to tell them that, even if it's true. If it isn't, he committed slander as well.

I'd take him to court and sue the bastard.

Yeah, that's pretty much illegal. I'd contact your state's department of labor.

WHOAH! That's crazy! You should be kinda glad because you can actually sue him for slander and get a lot of money! You can sue him and his company and probably get a whole year or more worth of whatever salary you would have made at the job you were fired from.

He can get fired for that and you can sue him. Next time don't tell who the other shop is. I hope you get hired at the other shop and that they know what happened. Still try for the other one and sue the **** out of your previous boss.
