I think that really sucks OP, in fairness to the gf though, she may not have seen it coming and might have been in shock or was hurt and trying to cover up her feelings by taking a swipe and acting like it wasn't a big deal. But if it was right for you and you felt talking things out wouldn't help then it was the right thing to do - and she reacted badly.

There's a damn good chance you're right, but whether you're right or wrong, it doesn't change the fact that what she was doing is wrong. Hiding your feelings is the last thing you need to do in a relationship, if she acted like a break-up was no big deal at the last moment, then it probably means she's been doing the same all along, giving OP the feeling she just never cared, which, may I remind you, is the reason OP broke up :P
