Today, I called work crying, telling them that I wouldn't be able to go to work tomorrow due to my grandmother's sudden and tragic death. After hanging up, I walked into the midnight release of Grand Theft Auto 5. I had no idea my boss was also an avid gamer. FML

Most people have played hooky from work at some point, but you never EVER use a family member's death as an excuse. That's just horrible. Ydi

Come on, especially he should understand the magic of GTA V

#84, I'll be honest. You don't deserve that job, and you're a bit of an ass.

If anything, you could've said you had a cold, and gone the next day if you had it reserved. Lying about a death in the family is a new level of sad. Good, glad you got fired, and if you were there long there goes your reference.

That's a horrible thing to lie about...

I had a lady, using the term loosely, working for me that missed work all too often. Most of it centered around her mother's untimely death and battles with her siblings about the funeral, possessions, etc. Finally, I called my friends that work where she used to work. Her mother died twice while she worked there. I don't think she likes her mother very much.

If your boss is a gamer you should have just asked for the day off... YDI OP

Because buying the game and then going to work is difficult. It's GTA. The hookers will still be there after work.

Why the **** would you make up an excuse for GTA 5. It's the same as every other GTA why would you risk your job for a game that you have already played. God damn this game is so overhyped.

YDI because some of us do have actual funerals to attend today.

funerals do not take all day you know.

Sorry, that was a terrible attempt at a joke. I would be on FML instead of listening to everyone crying. Then again, I am an emotionally stunted person who does not really do well with weeping people.

i find it hard to deal with crying people too and dont like cryint in front of people. shouldnt matter at a funeral of course but i still find it embarressing.

Everyone was there for that...I don't think your boss is coming in anyway..,but just mention you are going to play a bit before her funeral..,
