Today, I continued my habit of saying, "It smells like lung cancer over here" any time I see a smoker. This guy turned out to be an amateur MMA fighter, and I was his "workout" for the day. I guess his lungs are doing fine. FML

I don't usually see people coming back to comment on their own FMLs, but I wanted to see what people had to say. 136, I don't make a habit of walking by smokers. I've just had a few too many family members diagnosed with lung cancer from what should be called a lethal drug. I wasn't trying to be condescending with my remarks. I was simply giving a harsh reality in a way that could possibly cause him To put the cigarette down. To add on I'll ask a question to everyone: How angry would you be if you found out you had lung cancer or emphysema some second-hand smoke?

While I agree that it was totally obnoxious to say that to a smoker, it doesn't mean he should get beaten up. If I were the smoker, I would say back to him, "sounds like an asshole over here" and walk away. Two wrongs don't make a right and violence should not be the answer. When I walk by smokers, I hold my breath and hurry past them, but I don't tell them what choices they should make in life. In the future, the OP should hold his tongue. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Y.D.I. Mind your own business, worry about your lungs, keep your opinions to yourself & let grown people do what they want to do to their own bodies! It's none of your business if I smoke! I pay for my cigarettes, you don't! Keep your big mouth shut and you won't get your ass beat! I hope he beat the crap out of you!!! You're a nosy busy body! Have you ever drank alcohol? If so, you've killed brain cells. Smoked weed? Lung cancer, killed brain cells & illegal. Ever ate candy or drank soda? You're rotting your teeth out! Need I say more? Jerk!

There are two parts to this FML. One is that you were acting like a complete dick in your approach to smoking. I don't personally like it but as long as it is outside away from children then fine. On the other side this bloke physically attacked you due to one stupid comment which suggests he is a danger to everyone, has anger management issues and may well kill someone in the near future.

Or op continued on after his reply. There is a time gap in the story where op could have said or did more to instigate the fight. Of course, the whole fight could have been op taking a "get out of my face" shove and then curling up and crying.

I say shit like that to people all the time that are is public places and where I have no chance but to breathe in their garbage habits. I don't give a shit if you smoke, but when I have to smell it or pick up your dirty old cirgrit butts off the ground that people litter eerywhere. that's a piss off.
