Today, I discovered my step mom had thrown out my baby blanket because it was an "eyesore". It was an heirloom from my birth mother and the only thing I have left from her. FML

That is so sad! Your step-mother should have told you that she was going to get rid of it before she just threw it away. That way you could have had a chance to hold on to it, even if you had to put it in your closet or somewhere. Your step-mom is a bitch for not understanding why you would hold such fond memories and feelings with that blanket, and I am sure your relationship with her will never quite be the same. So sorry, OP. FYL!

Wow... I can't believe how many people are automatically like "what a b*tch!" Again I come back to the fact that there are a lot of factors we don't have here... Maybe the stepmom asked the father about it first and he said to just toss it. Maybe the OP has a house of their own and the step mom asked OP to come get all her stuff by such and such date or it wa going in the garbage... Or, maybe the stepmom is a b*tch... So many factors...

Tempest, we can guess that she didn't offer it, because the explanation for throwing it out was because it was an eyesore. So the stepmom is indeed a dirty ******* bitch.

Agreed, Maybe she didn't know how sentimental it was to her daughter. She didn't know the history behind the item and just saw it as a smelly rag. The OP should sit down with her step-mom and just have a heart-to-heart about how she feels...

I'm so sorry. I can relate though. my stepmother destroyed our school pictures and would make threatening phone calls to my mother. she was and still is a horrible ogre. stepparents are of the devil!
