Coming from someone who found the ring and said nothing, then got an amazing proposal two weeks later, I'm sad that you gave up what could have been a really special moment just bc of a spilt second of bad judgment. Even if he wasn't planning a flash mob, dinner at home can still be a great story. He may have just picked it up from the jewelers and didn't think she was doing laundry. Everyone makes mistakes. I think OP should have taken a breath and called a friend instead of taking whatever he was doing away. Maybe it would have been lame, but now you'll never know.
YDI op, if you find something like that you put it back and pretend you didn't find it. Most guys put a lot of thought and effort into what they are going to say/ do so "hoping he'll propose on the spot" is taking a lot away from him. It's really like saying I love you for the first time and standing there staring at them until they say it back, whether they mean it or not. My boyfriend has had a plan on how he's going to propose for close to 2 years now. If I expected him to just drop that plan cuz I found the ring, he'd be mighty pissed.
But, where would she put it? Back into his pants and then put his pants back in the laundry basket? Does she put the dirty pants in a drawer? Wouldn't he question that? She can't take the ring out and leave it somewhere else, he'd figure it out. It's his own fault for leaving the ring in his pants pocket and putting it in the laundry. Her expectations were also silly, but what else could she do without him realising she'd already figured it out?
Exactly. Ultimately, she was a bit over-eager, but there was no way not to ruin the surprise at that point. He acted like a jerk, and I question whether he's the sort of person she should be marrying.
Or she could just somehow not do the laundry or that part of the laundry? It's not necessarily her job to do the laundry.
Silly of him to leave the ring in his pocket and put the pants in the laundry...
Although you were over the moon excited when you found the ring... It was probably hard for him to keep the ring from you.. He obviously had something more romantic planned.. You could of just set the ring aside...and wait for magic.
You should be like, "I don't actually have to tell the answer, do I?"
I guess I'm kind of on the fence about this one. His reaction was harsh, but on the other hand.....OP should learn some patience.
Patience OP, patience
If she would have washed the pants put the ring back it would have been fine! He could have had something amazon planned and her stupid eagerness ruined it!!! I don't feel sorry for her she's stupid for being so eager. Ya he could have hidden it but she shouldn't have run out and shoved it in his face that she found it in his pants. He's not dumb and she deserves it!
Uh, 1: No, it wouldn't. It could have gotten wrecked or lost in some way. 2: Wouldn't you be eager if you made a discovery such as that? I sure as hell would. 3: No, he was dumb. Who just leaves a ******* engagement ring in their pants pocket?? I hate to play Devil's advocate, but you're all acting ridiculous. I'm siding with OP on this one.
You should marry him right away cuz he sounds like a real winner.
Not necessarily. She could have put the ring in a jacket pocket, in a clean article of clothing that he uses often. It's more likely he would have left it there, she could have done her damn laundry and he wouldn't have found out that she knew.

Well you kind of deserved that, you spoiled his plans
I think OP does deserve it, she totally ruined his plans, she should have just put it back in the pocket and kept her mouth shut.
