Today, I found out that my cat, that I've had for 3 years, is actually my neighbor's missing cat. FML

Talk about a plot twist.. OO

if you live in north alabama then your my neighbor FML

After three years I'd say depending on how he got the cat it should be yours. If its legally his unfortunately you have to give it back though not sure he deserves a cat that was his and living right next to him but didnt notice for three years, however if he just randomly picked it up stray and doesn't legally own it keep it.

Y'all picking on the neighbor is kinda asinine. Maybe the neighbor actually went looking for the cat when it went missing and/or maybe the "kittynapper didn't bother to ask around when she found the cat..

This has happened to me too, but I only had the neighbor's cat for a few days. I asked other neighbors (they thought he was a stray) and put an ad on Craigslist. The owner said that the cat had been gone two weeks, and he was starting to get concerned because of the nearby highway. Still, he had not made any posters or talked to the neighbors. Assholes.

Well I'm sorry to hear that you might have to give your cat up.

Too bad. You want it back? You can pay for the years of food and grooming for the cat!

Voted YDI by mistake (yay misclicks), but tbh knowing who's at fault here is a tricky one. Did you just "adopt" the cat because it came round for food? I mean that's a shitty thing to do if the cat seems healthy and cared for. On the other hand, though, were they just letting it wander about randomly? Then they're dumbasses and I'm glad the cat ended up with you rather than under a ******* car wheel. Begs the question, though, how did they not notice for -three years- that their missing pet was right next door? Doesn't sound like they cared too much to start with, tbh.
