Some lessons are more expensive than others, but this one is worth every penny: If you let people spend your money (or spend the money you borrow)... they will. YDI because she couldn't have put you in debt without you allowing her to. You probably gave her your credit cards or something. But here's a clue for you: if the banks won't give her a credit card of her own, there's probably a reason. They're professionals at evaluating credit risks. You're obviously an amateur... but you're learning fast.

Put it in pespective... Paul McCartney was married to Heather Mills for only a few years and had to pay her $50 million when they split. You: $33000 in 6 years is about $16 per day for decent sex (we hope, for your sake) Paul: $50 million in 3 years is about $50,000 per day for occasional sex with a one legged woman. The OP is talking about all the money he spent on her over the six years they have been together. That includes dinners, movies, concerts, flowers, jewelry, etc. All told, $5.5K/year is not impossible. that breaks down to $458/mo, $114/wk. The sad part of all this is that all this money spent is done for the chance of having sex. The sex is not guaranteed, unless she's really horny. Any implied promise of sex is subject to change. Unless this tool was guaranteed a lay every time, he's overspent just to go home with his dick in his hands. At this point you might as well marry her. $33K is a huge investment just to have her dump you after six years just because you never popped the question.
