$5,500 a year isn't that bad. Well at least if your having sex on a regular basis. For example, if you have sex with your girlfriend atleast 100 times it would cost $55. A hooker costs a lot more than that and plus with a hooker you have to use a condom - just in case. With your girlfriend you don't have to use a condom if she is on birth control and what not and she likes you enough. $55 is a good deal actually, its basically wining and dining her and you get sex from it.

Well no, that's the minimum really. If she's increasing his debt at a rate of $5,500 a year, that doesn't mean that's the most she's spending. For all we know, OP could make $100,000 a year with his own expenses averaging $30,000, which would mean she's actually spending $75,500 a year. Obviously that's an exaggerated scenario (not to mention one in which the situation would be easily reversed), but my point is that she's spending $5,500 + whatever his surplus ends up being. Still, I'm gonna give the OP a big YDI for not keeping track of his own finances. Or taking care of his own income tax, or looking at his credit card statements, maybe checking his bank balance once in a while, or merely noticing that she's been buying things out of his price range. (EDIT: I didn't consider the possibility of a sudden debt, like a spending spree. That would be a FYL. I'll give both.)

YDI, written all over that. Do you not check your credit statements every month? (Bank, Credit Cards, Car Leases, etc etc) I don't check it for your reasons, I do it because insurance companies, banks, and all these other 'big' companies sneak money from you.

Except it turns out that freecreditreport.com gives you a report for free, but then signs you up for a $33/month "credit monitoring service" that you have to call to cancel. (Assuming you eve notice it.) There is a site that will actually give you your credit report for free. It is www.annualcreditreport.com .

#94, $33/month vs 33k in debt = 1000 months of credit reports. That's more than 83 YEARS worth. And she got that out of him in 6 years. You can also like, you know... cancel at some point.
