Today, I found out that my girlfriend of two years broke up with me because she wants to "become" a lesbian. I also learned that she's coming to my house for dinner tonight. My sister is her date. FML

@86, um no there isint. Speaking as someone who deals with both, it's tragic and morbidly offensive ppl dont think the persecution of gays is similar to the persecution of other races. While im the first to say the civil rights mvt is /= to gay rights, the struggle for acceptance and equality is very similar. being gay is obviously not a choice...if it is that would mean being straight is a choice...and when exactly do you make this choice anyway? Yeah yo don't. around of even b4 puberty your sexuality shows itself to you. you realize that girls that were icky, suddenly don't look so bad anymore; for gays they realize that they are attracted to members of the same sex.

of course, i see your point. i meant that even though both discriminations progressed similarly, and both can have a detrimental effect on someone, enslaved people were shipped across oceans in infected and overcrowded boats. Many of them died. The persecution toward homosexuality primarily affects the mind unless people take it too far like in schools or whatever. Something of a "sticks and stones" deal for me
