I'm just surprised that you couldn't find it in your heart to be happy for her. Yes, what you're doing sucks, but that's so amazing that someone who needed help got it and succeeded! She had to score incredibly on both math AND English to get adequate GRE scores, especially for a PhD program. Why can't you find some semblance of happiness for someone else, even if your life sucks?
well said. also, the fact that you were the valedictorian doesnt make you smarter than her. have you thought about that?
it sucks when you peak early
First off, FYL you work at McD's. Second you don't need to be able to write essays and understand literary devices to be good at science so its not that big of a shocker that she got a Biophysics degree.
boo hoo how does English have anything to do with biophysics i had crappy grades in english class cause i really suck at writing essays but i got a 100% grade in my physics and advanced algebra math classes math is basically a universal language just beascause you tutored someone in english has almost no bearing on how they do in math related stuff unless they needed to read some word problems written in english *rolls eyes*
Hey! Be happy that you were a part of this girls life and now she's a success! You can make Big Macs while she's working on her Macbook! CONGRATS!
this fml makes me kind of mad you think that just because she needed tutoring in english, she can't be really good at other things, like biophysics? it doesn't seem like they have much to do with each other to me plus, since it was basic english, that makes it sound like english was not her first language and becoming proficient in a new language is not easy and you think you're somehow better than her? woww and suck it up manager at mcdonald's...uhh so?
Or how about working hard plays a bigger role than everything else? If money is a problem and you are graduating high school as a valedictorian, I'm sure there some place that you could land at least partial financial aid. If not, there are always student loans. The person that was tutored in this FML obviously overcame his/her problems, and therefore was able to succeed. The OP clearly was gifted to begin with, and basically just threw it all away. I have no sympathy for people who are talented and choose not to utilize their skills. Have fun flipping burgers for the rest of your life.
Soo..whose fault are shortcomings?? Obviously not her's...so stop bitching and do something with your life if you really want to.

LOL #1. You do know that Biophysics doesn't have that much of a correlation to English, right? You should get up and DO something about your situation instead at looking at what others are doing.
at least you're manager and not an employee :D
