Today, I got dressed in what I thought was a really adorable outfit. I had a cute pink skirt on, a white tank top and silver strappy sandal heels. On my way to the mall a car pulls over and this guy asks me how much for three hours. FML

#127, you really seem like you're not in the position to be giving style tips... and how are you gonna wear two tank-tops and THEN match your shoes to them? You can't get the full gist of what she's wearing from a sentence, but honey, you're doing yourself no favors. Does sound a bit cheap. I don't know, maybe I'm a bit off, but in the suburbs I take it as a compliment when I'm standing at the bus stop and a guy honks or catcalls. It's a step up from the nasty construction worker, and you could still consider it as gross, but at least you know you're hot! If the dude was hot, I'd do him. Shit! But that's just me. Just hope he's not undercover cop.

I don't take it as compliments. It has only happened once because I live in the country so don't see a lot of new people. I was running on the trails near my school with classmates and these guys wolf whistled at us.

What is it with these people saying "either show legs, or show arms"?! Wearing a short skirt and a long t-shirt looks beyond ridiculous. And what are you supposed to do when it's hot outside? I don't think we can comment on the outfit, it really depends on how short the skirt is, how deeply cut the tank top is, etc...

#133 -- This is what I was going to say. While that IS sound fashion advice and it looks better, it gets so miserably hot in some areas that you want as little covered as you can get away with. However, a shirt skirt and a long sleeved shirt looks adorable, what are you talking about?

i've never heard of this "show legs or arms" thing. like, for people wearing long sleeved shirts and short skirts, it looks fine most of the time, but what are you supposed to do when the weather is hot? i reallyyyy dont find sweat stains attractive. anyways, although a pink skirt and white tank top with silver heels is not my style, i definitely dont think its slutty. FYL

What is with all the YDIs? The OP sounds very young, and it must have been humiliating for her. Women should have the freedom to dress as they please without having their basic humanity and worth discredited. The idea that she deserves to be humiliated/treated as a piece of meat because she chose a certain outfit is appalling and exemplifies the type of misogyny that is so widespread on this website. It's akin to blaming a woman for being the victim of a rape because she wore the wrong outfit or had the indecency to be out at night. And the idea that this humiliation should be considered a compliment is just as bad. Believe it or not, a woman doesn't base her self-worth as a human being on whether some jackass deems her worthy of objectification and consumption.
