There are way too many unanswered questions here to determine if you deserved it or not. Why were you fired? Did you do something wrong? Was your boss a jerk? We need more information!

Maybe you didn't do the job correctly? Just because you are a volunteer doesn't mean you can come in and sit on your butt or do a poor job. The ranch I work at is a charity for special needs children and we work with horses. Our volunteers can exchange their hours for rides or parties free of charge. However we have had to ask many volunteers to leave because they come in with a bad attitude, do a poor job even after thorough teaching, cause problems with other volunteers or staff, or just do absolutely nothing to gain hours. A lot of people have the mentality that I don't have to be here so I can do a crap job. Then please don't be here its easier on everyone else if the job gets done the first time correctly versus us having to go back and fix it. Really sucks you were fired from a volunteer job but let's be honest it happened for a reason.

How and why did you get fired? I thought volunteering meant it was voluntary?

What, you thought they had to keep you since you were working for free? If you neglected your duties or did something else worthy of getting fired, why wouldn't they fire you?
