United States does not offer paid maternity leave/bonding time. Most every other industrialized nation does. Because its bloody important! In the op's country, you recover your surgery/body and go right back to work. Or take off work and lose money while you bond emotionally with a lifelong figure and take care of it while its totally helpless.

I think OP would have noticed the difference between breast milk flavored koolaid and plain koolaid. At three weeks old, I can't imagine anyone counselling a mother to give the child koolaid flavored milk. OP has to follow her conscience, and in this case I think she does know better than the childs mother.

I have a feeling that piece of shit mom thinks formula is too expensive so she feeds her baby kool aid instead. That way she can use the extra money saved from not having to buy formula on a new Coach purse and manicure.

Breast milk is free though. Cost should not be an excuse. I just think she's an undereducated young mother who doesn't know better. Not excusing her, just explaining.

Please don't... My stepmom has Munchaüsen's by proxy and fed the kids coke in their baby bottles. All their teeth have filling, they are as brittle as twigs and fat to boot. She only ever bought was she liked, Mountain Dew and Dr. Pepper. Neither I can stand before or after her abuse. And I didn't live with her so I escaped a malnourished disaster.

My mom found it too cumbersome to pump, bottle, store, etc while working at a phone company where a bathroom break was disciplined. She bought powered formula and pump and dumped the real stuff.
