Today, I got screamed at, threatened, cursed, and spat on by an elderly couple for "running them off the road". I was driving an ambulance, lights and sirens on, with a 4 year old in the back who couldn't breathe. They were going 20 in a 50mph zone for 2 miles straight. FML

& this is why I think the elderly should have to retake drivers Ed.

And yet they get blamed if anything unfortunate happens while they are already more commonly under appreciated by the general masses.

This is why elderly people need to best tested after a certain age to see it they are still fit to drive

Already implemented in some countries/states. But more still needs to be done.

I really hope the child is okay, and those two elderly obviously shouldn't be driving. Or being allowed on the streets. Unreasonably aggressive, much?

im under the impression that blocking an ambulance is illegal. if they didn't get out of your way, as per the law says they HAVE to... then the hospital should be able to press charges. a fine at minimum. apparently that couple didn't understand that if that child died because they obstructed the ambulance, they THEY can be charged with manslaughter.

Maybe people don't realize that their driving could mean life or death when it involves getting out of an ambulance's way. You'd think the sirens and lights would be an indication.

Apparently there are still people who missed the memo: "If it's big and has sirens, then it goes first".

you should've called the police on their asses. slow-driving asses. i guess they didn't know that they're supposed to move when they see an ambulance.

I feel you brother. I ain't enough that most people dont notice the warning systems, some that do CHOOSE to ignore it. If I a had a dime every time I ran code 4 in the back of some jack@&& who wouldn't give it...

even if they're in the wrong by not moving out of the way, thay does not give you the right to run them off the road. you could have caused another emergency situation

Really? Really? Can you not see implications in the text? Okay, I'll make it clear: He was stuck behind them, lights and sirens going. He may have been a little close, and then probably pulled around them as soon as there was room to do so. The fact that those words - running them off the road - are in quotation marks is implying that they were over reacting and stretching the truth to make themselves the victims. Do you REALLY think that an ambulance driver would purposefully run someone off the road? You've got to be kidding me, or you just fail at common sense.
