Today, after spending 4 years without dating after an abusive relationship, and going out with who I thought was a decent guy for 6 months, I told him I have bipolar disorder and take medication for it. He responded by dumping me saying he can’t date someone who’s “crazy.” Back to putting my wall up I go. FML

But the point is, they are both still Jake. Just two sides of the same coin. If it was someone with DID, then there wouldbe Jake, Ben, Vlad, Mary, etc. Depends on how many personalities there are. The OP's bf (hopefully ex) is an idiot. Period.

@53 Obviously the boyfriend is lying. That's not really the issue. It's did she believe him. Trying to scam your girlfriend so you can get some on the side doesn't require truth or accuracy. It only requires gullibility. Like claiming to have psycho-motor epilepsy to get out of receiving a massage (damn her!)
