Well, you can't if you want to give your poop a proper farewell as you send it away. Without lights, you can say goodbye to your feces, but it's not as sincere without face-to-turd contact.

Like others have said, if you have well water, you can't flush and all your water won't work. I grew up with well water and when I moved to a city, I was actually surprised we had running water when the power went out.

Your family has a point if they're using solar powered toilets that don't hold water. I heard that they just vacuum the shat down somehow. I recently removed my toilets, we just use litter boxes.

This isn't a big deal if you have a well and not city water then your ELECTRIC water pump will not work and won't refill your toilet after a flush
