Today, I lost two terabytes' worth of photos to a friend's incompetence. He said he could save me some money and fix my slow computer for free. He ended up wiping the hard drive, and along with it, my photography portfolio from the last five years. FML

This is why you have an external hard drive to save these important things onto when you are letting someone unqualified (I'm guessing) mess with your stuff.

Holy shit five years? I would give your friend the wrath of God if I were you.

Unless he zeroed the drive you can get it back. Wil be very expensive though.

And... Being a photographer you didn't have it backed up at least two different places?

Your computer probably runs a little faster now though... So here's to small victories?

Don't use the drive. Download Recuva(it's free) and you should be able to recover the majority of the files. The more you've used it since it was wiped, the less you're getting back. Source: I work in IT, I do it all the time.

Any photographer with half a brain backs up their work.

I accidentally read that as "Pornography," which would be equally devastating.

This is my worst nightmare... Glad I have a 2 terabyte external hard drive :)
