It could be in the FML itself, and people would still think they know better than trained professionals.
You do realise if their from the medical field they know, and even regular 9th grade biology tells you the flu shot is only sustainable to a certain flu it's not really effective to all types of flu. pls dnt hte nd dnate XD
I guess it would be necessary for them to have flu shots since they are around other sick people. But I myself have never gotten a flu shot and have never been extremely sick before.
You went a little far with this comment. Too much to read.
Two words: Herd immunity.
That's what I was trying to explain. Although this is much more direct and makes better sense.
Although I respect most people's decision whether they get the flu shot or not, medical professionals really do need to get it. You're in the care of too many people, and risking their health in addition to your own.
I think what they are talking about is that if everyone else gets vaccinated they don't need to because they are protected by everyone else's vaccinations. However, many parents are starting to adopt this mentality which is causing diseases to start coming back. If you are around people who can't get the disease then it's highly unlikely you will contract that same infectious disease
Congrats 102 you got why this bothered me so much. This post wasn't about the flu vaccine but the reasoning one of my coworkers had for not getting one. I'm currently a Pre-med student and we learned in a public health class last year that too many people are relying on herd immunity and skipping out on getting vaccinated which is allowing for older diseases to start making a comeback in the US. Specifically Ashland, Oregon was in the news because they had a high rate of unvaccinated children and so state laws needed to be changed so parents would be forced to hear what might happen if they don't get their children vaccinated. Strange enough many of the people who refuse to get their children vaccinated have the money to do so, so there is little reason for not doing it. Nevertheless this is starting to become a big problem and I'm glad there are some people on here who are knowledgeable about the issue.
it's called herd immunity. it is a valid way of life. the only problem with it is that more and more people are following this. reducing its effectiveness.
