Today, I overheard my co-workers talking about how they don't need flu shots because everyone else gets them. These people are in the medical industry. FML

I had a lady come to our class to speak to us about communicable diseases and she said and I quote " I get paid by the state to stand up here and encourage you all to get the flu shot but I'm gonna be honest. Do not get the flu shot. What they do is they have over a 100 types of flu shots and out of those they choose one shot for that year that they are gonna use and it never ends up being that type of flu. Thus people sill end up with the flu." This is coming from a lady who is a doctor an a surgeon.

This is 100% correct, they are extremely less likely to contract the flu due to others vaccination. As a medical student, I am very familiar with the term "herd immunity" and suggest that you go do some reading on it.

I work in a hospital, close with the nurses. None of them want to get the mandatory flu shot. Our doctors don't often write orders for patients to get them because they think in their professional opinions that flu shots are some of the worst things they could get. Some people get the flu anyways, some even end up with guillain barré syndrome. You would be surprised how man medical professionals are against flu shots.
