Today, I overheard my mum tell my sister that she should make me a bridesmaid at her wedding. My sister scoffed, "She looks like Shamu, mum. I can't have THAT in my wedding pics." followed by laughter and my mum saying, "Touché." FML

Today, I’m supposed to be a bridesmaid at my sister's wedding, but she doesn’t want me in the photos because I’m over a foot taller than her and the other bridesmaids, and it will look silly in the photos. I told her I won’t even bother attending, and mom actually took her side. FML

Today, my sister backed out of my wedding because it was becoming too much about me. After I begged her to reconsider, I had no choice but to pick a new bridesmaid. When my new bridesmaid posted on Facebook how excited she was, my sister commented, "See, you made HER feel special." FML

Today, my mother thought it would be a wonderful idea to make me late for me own wedding. It wouldn't be so bad if she hadn't focused solely on my sister because my wedding didn't center on her. Well, whales are some of the most intelligent animals out there, so you have that going for you. Which is apparently more than can be said for your mother and sister, if the only reason they don't want photos with you is because you're overweight. I rather agree with the suggestion that you get your sister a piece of Shamu memorabilia as a wedding gift. Sometimes just the realization that someone overheard a callous remark like that can be enough to kickstart karma. I also suggest leaving a note calling her a jellyfish. See if she understands it. If so, revenge. If not, you get to laugh about it behind her back, just as she tried to do to you.

I'd personally call her a shellfish. I agree with what you have said. People can be callous and you sometimes need to remind them that comments have real world effect. Obviously the sister values the look of the pictures over the memory of having someone they love there. I would not go, personally, and I would not bring it up again. Send the Shamu token.
