i hate firestone! last spring in rochester, i asked them to do a complete checkup of my del sol, and they told me i needed new tie rods (front left). fine. 200 dollars incl alignment. then i took it to my trusted small town mechanic in va, and he said the tie rods were fine, it was the entire control arm mechanism on all four wheels that were broken. firestone didnt notice that? bullshit. and on top of that, they had to look in the wheels right? well, i found out they ripped off the wheel well by accident on my right front wheel, and since then, water had been running into my cold air intake (goes into the bumper) for months. great! ******* hate firestone. (no, i noticed the missing wheel cover less than 2 days after it was gone, but firestone denied ever ripping it off.)
They'll pay for it since it was their mistake. No worries.
Lol this doesn't happen. Stop faking shit like this, it only makes you look stupid. If they would've _forgotten to fill up on oil_ which they wouldn't in the first place (It's a bit like changing the clutch and forgetting to put back the gearbox afterwards), the engine would hardly have started without them noticing (They'd obviously make a test run of it before returning it). It'd make terrible sounds. Furthermore, it wouldn't run for 5 minutes before any lights would turn on I mean come ON, you'd obviously have 0 oil pressure. An engine uses oil for other things than just lubing it up. Without oil, the difference would be extremely noticeable in many ways.
new or rebuilt engine with less k's on it for free, this isn't an fml
I'm thinking they must've put oil in, but not tightened the drain plug down properly. The reason I say this is because most cars have hydraulic valves - the car won't run with NO oil pressure. If, however they didn't tighten the drain plug properly, it'd run (without any warning lights) for a while until the plug vibrated loose and the oil drained out. During which process, the dash light would come on. That scenario makes a whole lot more sense to me.
Change your own oil from now on. The shop only gives you the cheap stuff anyway.
congratulations. As replacing the oil is a major part of changing it you now can sue them. You may not get money but they will at least have to pay to fix your car.
That's why I'm glad my dad is a mechanic. If you lived near me, I could probably get you a discount on that and also a discount for putting it in/fixing it.
It might've sucked at the time, but when they buy you a new engine it won't be so bad!

It was their mistake, their damage, they'll cover the cost. Bring it up to them with proof, escalate the problem if needbe, and go to court if it gets that far (it won't, they'll fix it).
They should be willing to compensate for that, but FYL for having to wait for that process to be complete.
