What are you, in high school? Believe me, those lyrics can't have been that good anyways. In 2 years you'll remember them and laugh.
I had a similar thing happen to me once. I was drawing in class. It must have been one of my best, and my teacher came up and snatched it, crumpled it up, and used it to "demonstrate how mass affects the object's speed when it's pulled by gravity" as it flew into the trashbin. Fortunately for me, I was able to dig the drawing out of the trashcan...
lol what kind of a dude says " poured my heart out"
For all the closed-minded people screaming YDI and trying to make themselves sound superior, it's not as though you've never spaced out in class. Your grammar makes it clear that you've at least fallen asleep in English. At least the OP was doing something productive with his time. For all the wannabe realists trying to convince the OP that his music is worthless and a waste of time: If everyone had that mindset we wouldn't have any good art right now. Creativity that can be scheduled is hardly ever creativity at all.
Because every teenager in high school is at the same writing level, right? I'm willing to bet that, in a creative sense, some people in high school write better things than older people. Just because you or the people you know weren't amazing writers in high school doesn't mean that the OP didn't have something good on his hands. Maybe it wasn't "a crushing loss," but it's understandable that the OP is upset. When you put time into something (even if it's time that should be used to pay attention in class) and someone carelessly destroys it without a second thought, you have a reason to be pissed. If someone came up and burned a paper you'd put time into writing, I'm sure you'd be angry. It's important to you, but certainly not a crushing loss for the world, right?
I was shaming you in my post? Is that what happened? Odd, I wasn't trying to do that at all. I was trying to point out that there's certainly a reason to be upset. You said yourself that you'd be upset if a similar situation happened to you, so I'm not sure what makes you so different from the OP. He posted it on FML, which I thought was a site for people to post the ****** up and possibly funny things that happen to them. I suppose everyone has different standards for what a "true FML" should be, but in my opinion, this was worth posting. It sucked that it happened and once OP rewrites his lyrics, he'll probably be able to laugh about it. Go up to an adult who happens to be writing something. Burn what's being written. I can almost promise you that this will "set off" the adult. Please stop trying to prove how only teenagers are dramatic (though I don't think the OP is being particularly over dramatic in this case). And whether or not the lyrics were good isn't entirely relevant, actually. They were something into which the OP put time and effort. Good or not, the teacher had no right to burn it. It was an immature thing to do. A simple, "Please put that away and pay attention" would have been good. Perhaps you think I'm overreacting, but destroying something--especially if it's special to someone--is uncalled for.
Your band is terrible.
@21 that creeps me out that your a teacher. I couldn't imagine any of my teachers on fml. *shudders*
If they were, they would get after you for not using "you're" correctly.
They must not have been that good of lyrics if you simply let some asshole with a teaching degree burn them. Y.D.I!
I agree with #48. All of you who say YDI must not be music-ish people.

I am a teacher. Even if a student is not paying attention in class, I would never take their piece of paper away and set it on fire. Tell them to put it away, yes. Confiscate it for the rest of the period, yes. But destroying something of a student's is completely disrespectful. Some might argue that it's disrespectful to do other work during class, and I'd agree. However, the teacher shouldn't have taken that harsh of a measure to discipline him. Being a teacher doesn't give you license to be a bitch.
At least your band has chemistry?
