Today, I saw a car swerving in front of me on the freeway, so I whipped out my cell to report the DUI. As soon as it started ringing, I see police lights in my rear view and got slapped with a ticket for using a cell phone while driving. After explaining why, the officer said, "Nice try." FML

why didn't you just show him the last number dialed on your phone? I'm sure that a cop would know the local police phone number

It probably wasn't a DUII driver...it was probably just a person using their cell phone, just like you. I see it all the time, especially with texters.

This is why you pull over and call the police. YDI.

If you can afford a car and a cell phone then you can afford a hands-free calling device! YDI

Bluetooth car connectivity. Technology, get with it.

so your gonna risk lives to report someone who's risking lives?

Well, talking on cells while driving isn't illegal here in Indiana, but there are definitely terrible drivers who need to be repoted! So I say FML, that sucks. But thanks for trying to make the roads a little safer.

"I have an idea, I'll break the law and do something dangerous to report someone else who is ALSO breaking the law and doing something dangerous!" ...Good train of thought there, OP.

You're an idiot. Talking on the phone isn't as dangerous as driving drunk. I think trying to get a drunk driver out of the street is worth the almost non-existant risk. Most of you guys posting on here are idiots. He was only trying to protect people from becoming a statistic and dying from a drunk driver. But yes he should be able to afford a hands-free, but regardless, OP did not deserve this.

So he couldn't have pulled over to make the call? Speaker-phone doesn't exist? I'm an idiot and you're way too fast to throw names. PS- There's a reason why talking on cell phone's is prohibited while driving. There is a VERY existent risk.

It's not prohibited in all states. In my state they have signs on the freeway saying "Call to report drunk drivers". I get that texting is not ok behind the wheel, but talking on your phone? How is that any different than talking to the person next to you? Or in the back seat? Should we make it illegal to talk to the passengers in the car too?

your a dumb bitch, that's all I got to say! I hate people like you

show him the call log dummy. or at least now show the log at your ticket hearing. even if u deleted it u can probably print out a detailed bill from your provider online. this is not an fml, your just too dumb to correct this easy.
