Ahh yes, the sound of a non-conditional loving parent..... in my case it's my father who tells me that I need to get off the Spiritual path I am on and get back on the right one. You know, the one full of judgmental bigots who think that God only resides in a man made building and if you don't do exactly what they say you are going to hell in a hand basket.
Child abuse: " if you do this, I'll punish you and condemn you to a furry eternity in hell!" Not considered child abuse: " if you do this, God will punish you and condemn you to hell!!
Why does this bother you? You don't believe in hell, tell her that.
What do you care, you probably don't believe in hell either?
Your own mother?! **** her
Religious people: "atheists shove their beliefs down everyone's throats!"
My mother told me once that she was sad that I don't believe in "God". I informed her that I do. It may not be in the form she wants but there are many paths to the same outcome. You should tell her that before people believed in one "God" people believed in many gods. Or tell her there is no hell...what a ridiculous notion. Or tell her you are a "God" just like everyone else because we all create and that the bible is just a bunch of fables.
I've seen enough in my life to assure me that God exists, but as a Christian I can't agree with your mother's behavior. We cannot judge people because we are not worthy. One of the people I admire the most is one of my former co-workers who is athiest. He told me, "I don't need to be a good person because of a God, I choose to be a good person because it's the right thing to do." There are good and bad people in both groups (believers and non-believers). It's kinda like chat roulette, you'll find good people, but a lot of dicks as well.

People like her give us normal Christians a bad name..
What I'm saying is that theres two types of Christians: the over religious type Christian that tries to force their views on everyone else, and the normal Christian who believes in God but doesn't shove their beliefs down everyone's throats.
