Today, I started my day off with a relaxing cup of coffee, the morning paper, and the sound of my mother informing me I will be going to hell for being not believing in God. FML

People like her give us normal Christians a bad name..

What I'm saying is that theres two types of Christians: the over religious type Christian that tries to force their views on everyone else, and the normal Christian who believes in God but doesn't shove their beliefs down everyone's throats.

Ahh yes, the sound of a non-conditional loving parent..... in my case it's my father who tells me that I need to get off the Spiritual path I am on and get back on the right one. You know, the one full of judgmental bigots who think that God only resides in a man made building and if you don't do exactly what they say you are going to hell in a hand basket.

Child abuse: " if you do this, I'll punish you and condemn you to a furry eternity in hell!" Not considered child abuse: " if you do this, God will punish you and condemn you to hell!!

I always heard they didn't have razors in hell.

Why does this bother you? You don't believe in hell, tell her that.

What do you care, you probably don't believe in hell either?

(Not that I believe in anything religious) but ask her if she is without sin before she casts anymore "figurative" stones at you...tell her to be like Jesus and love you anyway

I'm concerned about the quotation marks around 'figurative'...

Religious people: "atheists shove their beliefs down everyone's throats!"

"I love you so much that I'm going to give you free will. But if you use that free will, I will torture and burn you for the rest of the time. But remember, I love you." Makes sense...

My mother told me once that she was sad that I don't believe in "God". I informed her that I do. It may not be in the form she wants but there are many paths to the same outcome. You should tell her that before people believed in one "God" people believed in many gods. Or tell her there is no hell...what a ridiculous notion. Or tell her you are a "God" just like everyone else because we all create and that the bible is just a bunch of fables.

I've seen enough in my life to assure me that God exists, but as a Christian I can't agree with your mother's behavior. We cannot judge people because we are not worthy. One of the people I admire the most is one of my former co-workers who is athiest. He told me, "I don't need to be a good person because of a God, I choose to be a good person because it's the right thing to do." There are good and bad people in both groups (believers and non-believers). It's kinda like chat roulette, you'll find good people, but a lot of dicks as well.

Just because you've seen things in life that you can't explain doesn't mean god exists.. There's an explanation for nearly everything, filling the void with "God did it" is an embarrassment to humanity.

#127 You have no idea what I've seen. I could piss all over your beliefs as well, but to be honest that kind of behavior is what is truly embarrassing to humanity.
