Today, I told my husband I wanted a divorce. He told me he didn't. End of discussion. FML

You forgot the end part; 'and make me a sandwich'

All the fantasies about abuse and control that commenters are coming up with from this little FML is very entertaining. To me it sounds like the poster is a flake who felt a little bored today so tried to pick a fight by mentioning the D word. The husband says "no" and she goes back to watching Oprah.

Clearly, the husband was aware of some reason why she would want to get a divorce. If he wasn't, I'd think he'd be more concerned about the unknown problem than simply not caring and saying "no". Either way, it seems he just doesn't care about her feelings on this, which indicates that she's probably right to want a divorce.

So little info. The OP is obviously hidding the truth behind the FML so we'll feel sorry for her. I'm not falling for it. No info, no care, no vote.

#60 (offense intended) you're stupid.

Honey, this is called Verbal Abuse. And if you are in need of a divorce, you probably already know that something in your relationship is not working. You need to hold your own though, trust me. The sooner you are free from his controlling behavior, that happier you will be. Don't wait until it's too late.

Of course it's verbal abuse. And if there are any kids it is also child abuse and so therefore many years of child support payments and/or alimony needed to pay for years of therapy.
